Therapeutic Yoga

Rooted in a somatic understanding of the mind-body connection, therapeutic yoga invites us to slow down and reconnect with our body's internal experience. Through gentle movement, restorative postures, mindful breathing, and intentional rest, we create the conditions for the body and nervous system to move towards greater balance and regulation.

Our nervous systems are continually responding to the world around us. Stress, anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic pain, illness, and the pressures of everyday life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves or living in persistent states of tension, overwhelm, or exhaustion. Therapeutic yoga offers an opportunity to gently shift out of these patterns by supporting the parasympathetic nervous system — the body's natural capacity for rest, restoration, and repair.

Rather than striving or achieving, therapeutic yoga encourages curiosity, self-compassion, and responsiveness to what is present. As we develop greater awareness of our body's sensations, we strengthen our capacity for self-regulation, resilience, and connection. Over time, this practice can help reduce the effects of stress, improve sleep, ease physical tension, and foster a deeper sense of calm and wellbeing.

Therapeutic yoga is suitable for every body. No previous yoga experience, flexibility, or level of fitness is required — only a willingness to meet yourself where you are.

My therapeutic yoga classes offer a calm, nurturing space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and gently support your nervous system. As a psychotherapist, Somatic TRE practitioner, and yoga practitioner, my teaching is informed by both contemporary understanding of the nervous system and the healing potential of embodied awareness.

These are not fitness-based yoga classes, nor are they yoga therapy sessions. Instead, they integrate restorative yoga, mindful movement, breathwork, and somatic principles to create a practice that supports both emotional and physical wellbeing.

In my classes, there is no pressure to perform, stretch further, or achieve particular postures. Instead, you are invited to become curious about your own experience, listening to the subtle messages of your body with kindness rather than judgement. The emphasis is on creating a sense of safety, allowing your body to soften out of patterns of holding and into a place where rest, regulation, and healing become possible.

Many people find these classes supportive during periods of stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, emotional overwhelm, chronic tension, or simply when life feels demanding. They can also provide a valuable complement to psychotherapy, offering an opportunity to integrate emotional work through the wisdom of the body.

Every class is an invitation to pause from the busyness of daily life and reconnect with yourself. Through supported restorative postures, gentle movement, breath awareness, and deep relaxation, you are offered the opportunity to cultivate a greater sense of ease, resilience, and presence.

Whether you are completely new to yoga or returning to your practice, you will be welcomed exactly as you are. My intention is to offer a compassionate, inclusive space where you can feel supported to rest deeply, reconnect with your body, and rediscover the quiet intelligence that already exists within you.
